Top 4 Things I’m Thankful For As A Real Estate Investor

Well, we have officially entered the holiday season! Christmas is right around the corner, holiday music has taken over the airwaves and everyone is in a hurry. We at Big Texas Home Buyers are certainly no different! Amidst all the hustle and bustle I find this is the perfect time to reflect on where you’re at with your goals and make sure you are on track to finishing the year strong. This year I really took Thanksgiving to heart and spent time focusing on everything I have to be thankful for both personally and professionally.

  1. A Strong Foundation. It can be challenging when you’re starting a new venture, you are going to have times when you may doubt yourself or your approach but knowing that someone’s got you certainly eases the weight. I am very fortunate to have a strong support system in my husband and sister. They have stood by me every step of the way encouraging me throughout this journey, having my back, giving advice when asked (or not asked) or just listening. All three of us have unconventional career paths so they understand the sometimes unpredictable schedule that comes  with being self employed. It can be a challenge to get solid quality time with your squad but  when you do it’s that much more meaningful and they know you are building a foundation for the future.
  2. My Crew. A.K.A. My Work Family. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, we have the best crew in the DFW area. From my business partner to our general contractor and everyone in between. They show up everyday with a smile on their face, ready to turn a house into a home for a new family to create new memories that will last a lifetime. When starting Big Texas Home Buyers, it  was imperative that we create an organization of people that are just as passionate about our mission as we (the founders) are. If you are also fortunate to have a great group of people working for you be sure to let them know they are appreciated otherwise you’ll find good help is not just hard to find but harder to keep.
  3.  Freedom. I always knew that working for someone else was not for me in the long term. I had grown up with a stepfather who very much embodied the entrepreneurial spirit and that life seemed normal, not always stable or predictable but normal. Not to say that all of his ideas were a success, in fact it was quite the opposite. There were a lot of failures before there were major successes. Yet despite a lot of falls, the long hours, the frustrations, there was also the freedom. The freedom that you were in control of your own life, failures and successes. The freedom to create and grow. Being a Real Estate Investor indulges all of these. I get to help people, I get to build, create, design. Everyday is a new opportunity and to have the freedom to build the life I want is one thing I don’t take for granted.
  4. Sellers. We exist because of our sellers. Many of our sellers reach out to us because they have found themselves in a bad situation. The possibility of foreclosure, death, divorce… the list goes on and what makes us stand out from our competitors is our dedication to our sellers. We deliver quick results but it’s not just about doing what’s best for the bottom line, it’s about doing what’s best for the people that have reached out to you because they need help. It’s about turning a negative into a positive. So to all of our sellers past, present and future know that our team is thankful for your business and the opportunity to work with you every day!

What are you thankful for this holiday season?
