Spread the Love
Have you ever been sound asleep when suddenly you are woken in a state of complete panic because ROACHES are crawling all over you? I’m willing to bet you just cringed at the very thought. Roaches are up there with clowns, public speaking and zombies of top fears and this childhood experience certainly stands to reason why Big Texas Home Buyers’ founder, Heather Faires has a healthy dislike of the buggies (especially the winged ones). Yes, you read that right. She woke up to roaches crawling all over her as child, incidentally in a home that her step father was rehabbing. The mission now is to ensure that other innocent people never succumb to the same fate. We are here to help. We will be looking at some of the most common insects you will find in and around your home as well as the best way to handle them without bugging out (teehee).
Roaches: First, let’s dispel the rumor about roaches…. finding roaches is not a sign that your house is dirty! Roaches are clever little buggers that are masters at finding food and water without much issue. So then how does one gain these free loading roommates? Roaches will make their way into your home by way of cracks and holes in the building, openings around doors and windows, moving from one apartment to the next via shared walls. Trust and believe if there is a way they will find it.
Prevention and Eradication:
Common North Texas Pests don’t stop with Roaches.
Bedbugs: Welp, if you thought cockroaches were bad I have news for you, they are nothing compared to bed bugs. How do I put this in the simplest of terms…they are BLOOD SUCKING VAMPIRES. Yes, you read that correctly they are vampire bugs who prefer to feed on human blood. They can cause skin rashes, psychological effects and allergic symptoms. Have you ever watched Criminal Minds? Basically, if Eddie the Bed Bug were human he would be on Criminal Minds sucking dry the blood and souls of his victims before being caught by the BAU. Few other interesting facts, they tolerate incest and withstand the effects of inbreeding quite well. They also smell like rotting raspberries. Their mating rituals are just as disturbing as everything else you’ve read about them but I’ll let you check out that out yourself.
Prevention and Eradication:
P.S. You know who eats bed bugs? Roaches.
Yellow Jacket Wasps: I like to think that every creation on this earth serves a purpose, except for the above bed bug, and I was curious to research the usefulness of Yellow Jackets after my recent terrifyingly unpleasant run in with a nest outside my back door. As it turns out they do in fact have a purpose and aren’t just complete jerks. Yellow Jackets appear in droves primarily during the hottest months of summer and feed their young caterpillars, flies and spiders making them fantastic in ridding garden pests.
Prevention, Eradication and Random Tidbits:
In a perfect world we could all coexist peacefully with all the creatures of the world. Unfortunately, the world isn’t perfect, and we do the best we can to coexist, for the rest there are exterminators.
